Collective traumas are distressing or disturbing experiences that affect large numbers of people. Such traumas can be difficult to heal because they tear at the social fabric, disorienting individuals, and spawning personality traits that make it difficult for individuals to connect. Yet, in a small village in the hills of Bulgaria, participants in a festival called Goat Milk wove their traumatic memories together into a nest designed to regrow social tissues.
